Vintages - Tasting Notes

At Château Fonrazade our wines are representative of the " AOC Saint-Emilion Grand Cru " denomination : supple, hearty, easy-to-drink, elegantly fruity, well structured, and blessed with graceful ageing characteristics. Although there is family resemblance due to common characteristics, each vintage shows specific features, based on each year's particulars.

This vintage has a brilliant colour with ruby red tints. The nose reveals aromas of black cherry and red fruits, and reminds hints of undergrowth, fresh autumn scents. In the mouth, the attack is fresh, velvety smooth and round, with mature fruity flavours revealing a delicate spicy note on its end. This full-flavoured and aromatic vintage will be ideal to be consumed while fresh and young, besides having a great ageing potential.

The blend of 70% merlot and 30% cabernet sauvignon - a grape variety much less common than cabernet franc in the Libourne area - gives great character to the wine. This vintage showcases an intense colour with vibrant purple reflections. Besides the aromas of wood and red and black fruits, quite usual at this time of ageing, the bouquet reveals notes of pepper and spices, almost similar to Medoc ones. On tasting, the freshness of this wine emphasises a nice flavour of cherry and pits. Its young fruity tanins promise great ageing. 2020-2028
(Guide Hachette des Vins 2019, 1 star)

The colour is deep brick red with carmin highlights. The aroma of ripe fruits is enhanced by a nascent bouquet with notes of truffles and autumnal forest fragrances. The taste is ample and generous with the strength and the freshness of tannins rich and still young. A wine with future and character.
